LAIF REGIONAL:
Promoting climate change adaptation and IWRM in the water and sanitation sector in Latin America within the framework of the FCAS – DCI-ALA/2013/319-515.
This EU blending programme managed by the Water Fund, whose delegation agreement was signed in December 2013, ended in December 2024. This initiative has served as a complementary input to the Fund’s programmes, allowing several countries in the region to address common challenges, such as Adaptation to Climate Change (AAA) and Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM). The funds have been allocated to the development of studies and analyses, the strengthening of entities associated with the sector, the training of operators and the review of sectoral policies and regulations, among others. During these ten years, this programme has enabled the development of innovative knowledge products and platforms, contributed to strengthening the capacities of the region’s institutions and provided support in modernisation and local strengthening. At the same time, it plays a significant role in supporting the pre-investment and post-investment processes necessary to carry out other projects and ensure their sustainability.
In 2025, it is planned to carry out an assessment of the programme, complete the systematisation of the products produced, develop certain communication and knowledge products, and produce the final report.
