Bolivia: Integrated Water Management Programme in Urban Areas (GIAAU)
This operation is part of a wider initiative in which the EU’s delegated cooperation is also involved.
Reimbursable cooperation is a modality that makes it possible to offer credits under special financial conditions with the objective of promoting the development of countries. In the case of Spanish Cooperation, this type of action is carried out through FONPRODE, the Development Promotion Fund which, in accordance with the provisions of the new Act 1/2023 [Ley 1/2023], of 20 February, on Cooperation for Sustainable Development and Global Solidarity, is now called the Spanish Fund for Sustainable Development (FEDES).
These funds have made it possible to complement the FCAS portfolio by financing new projects or second phases of Water Fund’s programmes. Among these interventions, those carried out in Bolivia, Ecuador, Panama and Paraguay are of note, as detailed below. In most cases, this funding is complemented by grants – either directly from the FCAS or through delegated EU cooperation – to extend projects to the most disadvantaged populations.
